I, Philip George Kemle was born in Calgary, Alberta on January 1, 1935 the youngest of 6 children. When I was 5 years old our family moved from Calgary to a farm in Sumas Prairie near Abbotsford, B.C. Canada. I graduated from Philip Sheffield High School in 1952 and in 1957 I met the love of my life Donna Lowther and we were married. We had a dairy farm with Mom and Dad Kemle and raised four children, Michael, Kenneth, Darrell and Shelly. Our farm holdings grew in Sumas Prairie until we had 160 acres of land. In 1966 we built a new loafing barn / milk parlor with cooling-tank to modernize our dairying business. With this system, cows are milked in a separate milking parlor with instant cooling of the milk to 40 degrees and the cows are fed & held in a loafing barn year round. In 1970 Donna and I with our 4 children moved from Sumas Prairie to Creston B C and started to dairy farm there. We milked 120 cows in Creston with our kids and hired help until 1981. Then in 1981 Michael, our oldest son took over the dairy and I went into the farm implement and Ford dealership business with my older brother Peter. I am now retired and my oldest son Darrel runs both of these enterprises. Donna and I spend winters in Yuma, Arizona for 5 months each year. We enjoy our retirement and all of our family members which includes 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
